Arriving in a big country like the Philippines (from the islands of Malta, basically 3, to this archipelago of 7,107 islands) you cannot but think that the world is bigger than me. I am part of a larger cosmos – St Paul would call it “the Body of Christ”. You begin to understand that God is doing something bigger in history beyond my country, my religion, and even my personal salvation. For my first half of my life I thought that I was important; that pleasing God was important to him. However, when you discover you’re just a tiny dot in a bigger picture, you stop thinking of your self-centred you and allow yourself to be part of a bigger “body”. You feel bigger. You feel better. You feel freer.
